Voting is underway to select the next Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) “ambassadog” for the company’s safe digging campaign. The winner will help promote an important safety message: Doggone it! Call 811 at least three days before you dig.
WPS customers across northeast and north-central Wisconsin submitted pictures of their canine candidates to be the company’s next ambassadog. Each canine was considered, with a pack of 10 top dogs emerging as finalists in the pup-ular contest.
Choose from:
Annie: Annie is 13 years old and still going strong, as her owner says she has dug holes near her home in Wausau that could pass for small bunkers. Her owner says she’s “energetic,” which she proves by sprinting around her yard often.
Carl: This 2-year-old French bulldog calls Green Bay home. When he’s not digging, Carl loves to go for walks or relax with a nap in the sun. His owner says he’s “squishy.”
Doug: Doug is a 3-year-old Australian shepherd who takes digging seriously, perfecting his skills by digging a hole he can lie in at his Wausau home. His owners describe him as affectionate.
Leo: A 1-year-old dog from Maribel, Leo’s playful spirit is adored by both his human family and his pet siblings. When he’s not digging, Leo can be found having fun and playing games with those siblings.
Luna: This 11-month-old dog makes her home in Merrill, but her favorite place to dig is on the beach. When Luna isn’t digging, she loves to cuddle up with her family as they watch TV. Her owner describes her as smart.
Maisie: Maisie is a 1-year-old golden retriever from Rhinelander who loves to dig, uncovering numerous buried rocks around her yard. When she’s not digging, Maisie also loves playing ball with her family, who describes her as sweet.
Mitzy: This 4-month-old pup from Wausau is a bundle of energy, especially outdoors. Mitzy’s favorite activity when she’s not digging is to go camping with her family. Her owner describes her as smart.
Nova: Nova is a 6-year-old Siberian Husky from Pulaski who is always up for a new adventure. Her owners say she enjoys digging, running, swimming and climbing trees. Nova’s owners say the best word to describe her is inquisitive.
Parker: This 5-year-old dog is one of two beagles who often can be seen playing around his family’s home in Stevens Point. Parker’s digging reputation is well-known, as he often can be heard burrowing in a freshly dug hole by his neighbors. His family describes him as silly.
Ruby: Ruby is a 1-year-old dog from Tomahawk who loves being outdoors. When she’s not digging, Ruby loves to swim and watch robins fly around her yard. Her owner says she’s playful.
Now, WPS customers and dog lovers everywhere have the paw-some responsibility of voting for the ulti-mutt winner. Vote now at wisconsinpublicservice.com.
People can vote as many times as they like between now and 11:59 p.m. Monday, July 27.
The next WPS ambassadog will be featured on billboards on Aug. 11 (8/11 Day) and as part of the company’s safe digging awareness campaign all year long.
