Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) is proud to be part of the National Electric Highway Coalition (NEHC), a collaboration among electric companies that are committed to providing electric vehicle (EV) fast charging stations along major U.S. travel corridors by the end of 2023. The NEHC merges the Electric Highway Coalition and the Midwest Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Collaboration, a group WPS previously joined. The NEHC currently consists of more than 60 investor-owned and municipal electric companies and electric cooperatives.
As EV sales continue to grow, industry groups estimate the need for more than 100,000 EV fast charging ports to support the nearly 22 million EVs projected to be on U.S. roads in 2030.
Beyond this program, WPS and its parent company, WEC Energy Group, are making significant investments in EV charging. The company currently has 50 EV charging ports available for public use, and WPS recently launched pilot programs to help residential and business customers install EV charging systems at their homes and businesses.
