A nearly 60-year commitment is continuing to help area students take the next step toward career success. The Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) Foundation is once again accepting applications from area high school seniors for its technical college scholarships.

The WPS Foundation’s technical college scholarships have helped northeast and north central Wisconsin students develop important career skills since 1964. They’re part of more than $5.6 million in total scholarships the WPS Foundation has awarded during that time to students in Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Proud to invest in student success

The technical college scholarship program is part of the WPS Foundation’s focus on improving educational opportunities for area students. Last year, these scholarships helped students pursue degrees in fields such as business management, electric power distribution, information technology and natural gas utility construction.

Scholarship details

The WPS Foundation partners with the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) on its technical college scholarship program. High school seniors living in the WPS service area can receive a scholarship to attend one of six select WTCS schools full-time next fall:

  • Fox Valley Technical College
  • Lakeshore Technical College
  • Northcentral Technical College
  • Nicolet Technical College
  • Mid-State Technical College
  • Northeast Wisconsin Technical College

Eligible students can receive a scholarship to work toward completing a one-year technical diploma or two-year associate degree program.

How to apply for a scholarship

Interested students can apply for a WPS Foundation technical college scholarship on the foundation’s website. Applications are being accepted through April 30.

Each scholarship awarded is for $750. Recipients are selected based on academic achievement, school and community leadership activities, and financial need.
