Voting is underway to select Wisconsin Public Service’s (WPS) first safe digging “ambassadog.” The winner will be the star of a special campaign promoting an important safety message: Doggone it! Call 811 at least three days before you dig.

WPS customers submitted pictures of their precious pups. After careful consideration, the company narrowed it down to the fetching finalists.

Choose from:

Arlo

Arlo is an 8-month-old Aussiedoodle who lives in Tomahawk and always makes his owner smile. He often can be found around his home, hunting for toads or wrestling with pine branches. Arlo also likes to play with other dogs and sleep on top of his family.

Clovis

Clovis lives in Schofield and is an 11-year-old Weimaraner. Besides digging, Clovis likes to go for walks. His owner describes him as “handsome.”

Ellie

Ellie is 3 years old and lives with her family in Plover. The goldendoodle’s owners describe her as “sweet.”

Luka

Luka is a 3-year-old from Amherst who’s never too far away from a dirt pile. His favorite activities are digging and playing in mud puddles. His owners describe Luka as a “goofball.”

Penny

Penny is a 1-year-old Catahoula leopard who calls Oshkosh home. She loves being outside — her favorite activities are fishing, hiking, and chasing after Frisbees and balls. Penny’s owners enjoy sharing her many adventures on her social media accounts.

Purple

Purple is a 6-month-old Doberman pinscher who likes to dig every chance she gets — even if that’s in her owners’ vegetable beds. Purple lives in Hilbert, and loves to dig no matter the weather outside. When her nose isn’t in the dirt, she enjoys cuddling with her family.

Ranger Danger

Ranger Danger is a 1-year-old golden retriever who lives in Casco. Besides digging, Ranger Danger loves to swim and chew on sticks.

Summit

Summit is a year old and lives in Green Bay. Her owner says she is “resilient” — a fitting description after she was adopted from an animal shelter in Kathmandu, Nepal, and had a leg amputated after an accident. Some of Summit’s favorite activities are going for runs or walks and watching dog movies.

Wallie

Wallie is a 6-month-old corgi who can be spotted dashing around De Pere. When he’s not digging, Wallie loves to chew on his favorite chew toy, race around his home and play with a pair of golden retrievers owned by a relative of his human.

Zeus

Zeus is a 4-year-old yellow Labrador retriever that calls Greenleaf home. His owners describe him as adventurous, as he loves to go on car rides and play with his dog sister.

How to vote

Now, you have the paw-some responsibility of picking the ulti-mutt winner. Cast as many votes as you’d like at wisconsinpublicservice.com between now and 11:59 p.m. Monday, July 29.

The next ambassadog will be revealed before Aug. 11 (8/11 day), and featured in the company’s safe digging awareness campaign all year long.
