Hundreds of Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) and statewide utility crews are making substantial progress, restoring power to customers following a damaging snow and ice storm. So far, crews have restored power to more than 108,000 customers — WPS expects 98% of all customers affected by this week’s storm will have service restored by the end of the day.
More than 300 workers, including additional outside crews that arrived this morning, have finished repairing WPS’ main lines. These crews now restoring service to smaller outages and individual customers. WPS is focusing on restoring service to customers who have experienced the longest outages.
WPS continues to encounter difficult and dangerous conditions, including tree limbs on its equipment, downed power lines and even broken utility poles. In total, more than 1,000 of these hazards have been reported since early Wednesday morning
Crews will continue working around the clock to restore service to all affected customers. WPS sincerely appreciates and thanks its customers for their patience as it works as quickly and safely as possible.
