The dog days of summer are here — and so is the chance to be the pup-ular new face of an important safety message. Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) is giving customers the opportunity to nominate their dogs to be the company’s first-ever safe digging ‘ambassadog’.

WPS customers can enter their dogs into the company’s ‘ambassadog’ contest now through July 16. The winning pup will be featured in a social media campaign to share a crucial safety slogan: Doggone it! Always call 811 at least three days before you dig.

Contest rules

Every dog has its day. Here’s how WPS customers can help their dogs step into the spotlight:

  1. Take pictures of their dog digging in his or her favorite place to dig.
  2. Submit the photos along with this form before 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, July 16.

After the nominees are in, WPS will narrow down the entries and give customers the ruff job of selecting the winner by pup-ular vote. The top dog will be the star of the company’s safe digging awareness campaign throughout the year. Look for contest updates on the WPS Facebook and X pages.
